I'm wondering how most people run their power wire from their battery into their cars?

Do you drill a hole, run though pre-existing gasketed slots?

I'm having a damn near impossible time trying to find a spot to run my power line into the car driver side.

what car is it?

Most shops actually drill a new hole into the engine compartment, you can vie for that...or you can search for a hose that runs into the car already and squeez your wire beside that, although you won't be able to add a gromet, you won't be drilling another hole in the car either.

I ran my 0g power wire through the existing grommet for the wiring harness for the dash. It is a big solid rubber block, so I drilled a new hole through the rubber, right beside the hole for the factory wires. This is an 06 Monte Carlo.

On my old car, 97 Cavalier, I ran it through the rubber boot for the steering column.

Myself I always drill a new hole and use a new rubber groument, its easier more times then cramming into a factory hole with crutial wires going throught it!

that what i did with my cavy . although if i had anything bigger then 4 gauge i would drill a new hole as pulling the 4 gauge through was hard enough and i cut the hole in the gromet bigger too.

I shouldn't have to say this but make sure there isnt anything on the other side of your firewall when you drill. I had a stupid friend once that drilled into his gas tank when instaling an amp in his civic!! HAHA

damn civic people... that 4ga prolly added like 10hp too ;p

Am I the only one who doesn't drill a new hole unless they absolutely have to?

I've always used factory grommets wherever possible and have never had a problem doing so. A little bit more of a struggle sometimes but it supports the wire better, seales the firewall better, and there's no bare metal to rust.
