I'm having a major issue with vibration and am not quite sure the best route to overcome this. I have already installed sound deadner (b-quiet) in the trunk and on the doors but I'm still getting quite a bit of very noticable resonance from my trunk. I was thinking of putting another layer of b-quiet but I dont think one additional layer can overcome this...

My setup constitutes;
Amp - Lanzar OPTI2000D @ 1 ohm (1.6kW rms)
Sub - Lanzar OPTI1532D (15 inch)
Enclosure - Spare tire well sealed with sub inverted
Car - 2001 Cavalier 4 door sedan

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

well if it happens to be your seatbelt recoils... I wish you the best of luck... that being the same problem I have yet to figure out with my trunk... for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do to them to take out the jingle... where do you think your noise if coming from? turn up the bass hop in the back seat and have a good listen.. and if anyone has any suggestions on the seatbelt recoils please fire away...

I think I'll put another 2 layers of b-quiet and see if it helps. From the looks of things I have my work cut out for me in making this car acoustically sound...The resonance is not only limited to the trunk. The front and back windscreens and all the windows in the car are flexing significantly (my wipers are also vibrating). The bumper is also a severe issue. The roof isn't a source of resonance but I'll still put a layer of b-quiet on there. I hope this works...

Hey

In one of my previous cars I did some experimenting and found that adding small sections of deadener did a better job than covering the whole thing. Cleaning and ensuring it was smooth to get the best bond possible also helped. Someone told me it was because I was changing the resonant frequency of the sheet metal in only one spot, but I can't say for sure.

In my last car I removed the spoiler, sounded much better.

Later - J

Been there haha, Seemed no matter how many layers I add'd.....I couldnt solve the problem always was a lil rattle kicking it. Might have been the stuff I was using ( Roofing material ) but I have heard of many people using that as a cheap alternative. Next car I do im going with all liquid deadener. Strip the car and give it mad layers of liquid from front to back, bottom to top. Best of luck getting your situation under control.
