Ive got a few questions for ya guys. i had some kenwood 6.5" speakers in basement and now im going to install them into my 1995 Pontiac Trans Port van.

i kno im going to have to take apart the rear door to get at the two speakers (my dad has done this so that shouldnt be a problem)

the dash is a problem, how do i take it off? as the grills on the speakers are all 1 piece, where are the screws located on the dash, or is it a push pin design?

i believe that the stock speakers in the van are 6x9 up front (as the grills look that way) and the rear should be a peice of cake (dunno exact size, but there should be enough room for the 6.5" speakers)

O shit i can really help you on this,i own a 95 myself,3.8's are crap but its a nice size van.

Anyways those grills do pop up and then theres 4 7 mm screws holding the 4x6's in place now the rears are some 6/1/2's or isit 5/1/2 but either will work

but yeah those grills pop right off,get your self a panel poper

well for those grills i just used a flat head screwdriver for the 1 corner, gonna try to use it for the others

if i screw up the grills, meh, this van is gonna die with me (205km) and i can fix it somehow (alot of items that would look better than that plastic grill)

then rear will be fun, i shall let you know how it goes, and possibly some pics

Ontario niagara region. i am 18, just getting into car audio, not much further than a deck and replaceing stock speakers, as it is a 95 trans port.

i got the grills off, now im looking at the speakers, got them off but the wiring is my question now

Left Speaker has A and B on the wire harness plug, the A side of the plug connects to the Grey wire, the B side to the Brown wire

Right speaker- A is Green and B is lime

question is which is + and which is -

and to give ya a little background on my audio setups so far, other than home audio (which is too easy) and a few decks under my belt (also very easy) i dont have much, im more into computers (but i guess that could be a helper with audio )

What i would do and doesn't cost that much is get some new speaker wire and just run that to each speaker for the front then to your HU or amp.

there was some wiring that came with the speakers.

i was just hoping for a quick way to do it, but i guess its better to do it the proper way than the quick way. i guess im gonna have to wait until tomorrow after work to finish this then, as i will end up running the wires to the deck now

the wiring on the speakers is grey/blue (+) and grey(-) for the left speaker is grey/red (+) and grey (-) for the right speaker. which wires does it connect to on the wiring harness for the deck (the harness is the standard for aftermarket GM decks). it says left front on the wires, but im not sure if it says +/- on them, would ya know off hand?

and the falls isn't much special. costs way too much, and its annoing to deal with tourist no matter where you go. (worked there for 2 years, and have friends who live there). the best places to live in Niagara are St. Catharines (some parts, some areas a ghetto's....around me), Grimsby, and Port Dalushie (sp?)

^^^ thats what i was just gonna ask about. i got the front speakers installed, which were very easy, made sure they were secure and wont move...and managed to fit the stock grills back on. not a great neighbourhood, its not a great car, but no reason to invite theifs. and they sound great (for 50 bucks almost a year ago)

now im gonna work on gettin the rear speakers switched out tomorrow after work. if i need anymore help (shouldnt) i will be here

got the rear speakers installed, which were much easier than the front, i took out 5 screws and i could work on the install. the speakers mounting straight with the stock holes (stock speakers were in fact 6.5") and it sounds good. i mean it could sound better (better speakers) but the way i see it, i spent so little on em last year, that it seems like they were free when i installed em so, its all good

now to work on a cheap sub for the van
