I'm adding a PA LT720 4ch amp to my system

the only thing I need to know is if a distrobution block is nessesary for the power, or if I can just run a second lead from the battery.

seeing as how I'd have to upgrade the lead to the battery anyway, it might be easier and cheaper to just run a second power wire.

any thoughts would be appreciated

well what are you running with your current power cable, depending on the size of the amp and the wire, will tell me weither or not you need to run a bigger cable with a dist block or to just add a dist block.

haha, well I bought an install kit rated for a 350W amp, so it's not going to be big enough, I think it's 8 guage, I can't quite remember

Currently installed :Jensen XA3022Lx 300w 2ch Powering the Subs

Adding: Power Acoustics 4 channel LT720 Amp

Check my sig for details on the system (hmm, my sig isn't showing up...)

you should really upgrade your power and ground to 4ga, then you will have no problem using a 4ga to 2 8ga distrabution block

You can do 2 runs of 8 awg from your battery. There is nothing physically wrong with it. However, it is ghetto. Also It may be more difficult to run 2 sets of 8 instead of 1 run of 4awg. Remember, you will need to fuse both wires close to the battery. So a single run of 4 awg will be one less fuse.

Ideally you should do a single run of 4 (or larger so you'll be set for future expansion). But you don't have to. Your suggestion will work.

agreed that is the ideal solution (replacing current 8ga with a 4ga), but lacking any distro blocks in my immediate posession I will probably just run a 4ga to the new amp, and splice in distro's when the opertunity arises, and by opertunity I mean another paycheck, haha

thanks for the help
