I got 2 6 1/2 inch speakers i want to put into my 1990 jeep Yj but the front can only hold up to a 4x6 and there is no real way to make the hole big enough for it. any suggestion on how to mount/ where to put a speaker box (doors and roof are not an option cause they come off in the summer)?

build a centre pod where the speakers are under the dash and infront of the shifter.

They have manufactured pods from Mod Pod and InstaPod. I've never heard them so can't comment as to how they sound and they are pricey. I just got rid of my 95 YJ this summer. I just glassed up a custom pod under the centre of the dash in behind the stick shift. I replaced the stock overhead sound bar speakers with 4" 2-way Alpines and hung a set of standard 6x9 boxes from the rollbar with muffler clamps. I used to have a dual 12" ported sub box that I made to fit snuggly in the back between the back seat and the tailgate until somebody shredded my soft top and made off with my gear. It stuck up above the rear seats so anybody walking by could see I had a box in there. My next box I built low-profile to fit between the wheel wells and left if painted flat black so it just blended it. Had single 12" Alpine Type S. I also installed a motion sensing alarm after that.

How long have you been in Angus? I used to trip over a half dozen times a year to visit my buddy. Head down to Wassaga to jetski, etc. You may have seen/heard my Jeep crusin' around.

first the panel is made out of metal so its hard to get behind there unless u have smaller hands or long fingers. I would go with pods and get a sound bar to get more sound out of that vehicle.
