Hey, I have a Honda DelSol coupe. There are 6.5" in the kickers and also just behind the seats to the side about shoulder hight.

I have a pair of Infinitys and im getitng a nice set of components. Im curious as to where to put the good set of components for best quality/sound?

Im thinking they would be best just behind the seats because its closer to my ears... and put the Infinitys in the kickers.

Any opinions?

It all depends if you are going for proper staging or not.... I mean I would take out the speakers in the back completely and put the compoents up front. The ex-gfs car has two 10s behind the seats and a 6.5" set of components in the front and its loud as hell, but you can turn the bass down too and set the system up for some pretty good SQ too. Bass is actually a bit of overkill with 2 10s in that car if you ask me. Two 8s would probably be great. My $0.02

From a physics standpoint, you can end up with destructive interference at various frequencies when the rear channels reach your ear at a time out of phase with the front channels.

If you're wanting to achieve the best "sound stage", there are so many differing opinions on how to do so. When it comes to your midbass and lower midrange, you generally want them as far forward (to keep the pathlength of your left and right channels as equidistant as possible). For upper midrange and tweeters, the location is not as critical as achieving similar SPL and frequency response on each side.

If you want to get really in depth, have a read of Brian Moore's "An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing". It's a very worthy read, in my opinion, and has taught me a lot as I prepare for SQ competitions next year.
