| Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem:
I have the P7800MP from Pioneer, and I've had it installed since the summer. A couple of months ago, for no apparent reason, it started to lose power whenever I took the face plate off.
What I mean is, instead of the face plate bracket returning to its normal position, it would stay "extended" (it extends whenever the car turns off to make it easier to remove the face plate). When I put it back and turn the car on, the deck gets power, but all of its memory is wiped clean and I have to reset my sound settings, radio stations, etc.
I don't think it's an installation problem, since whenever I leave the face plate on, the deck is 100% reliable, and never loses memory. Also, I never get the deck losing power while it's operating, no sound cutting in and out, etc.
The battery in my car is brand new, and the voltage is OK, so I don't think that's the problem.
From what I can remember, this problem came on gradually.... first it would happen very rarely, like once a month... then it started being more frequent, and now it happens almost every time.
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do here?
Thanks for reading,

| Well it's either the install, or the HU itself. I'd take it in and have the shop who installed it take a look at the install; if they don't find any problems with the wiring, then have them warrantee the HU... if you did the install, I'd check your wiring, and then if it's all ok, then take it in and get it checked.

| OK, just wanted to check whether someone's had this problem already, since I know there were some kind of ribbon problems with certain models of decks. That seems to be a separate issue from what I'm having, so I guess I better roll up my sleeves and do some troubleshooting. |
