I was helping a buddy get started on his 1988 Chevy pickup yesterday. We got a good start on the deadener. The roof, doors, back wall and floor are done. Here's what it looks like so far.

I believe he is planning on stuffing closed cell foam in the pillars and cab corners, then deadening over those spots as well.

Now we just have to decide on what to do with the front speakers.

Anyone have any suggestions as to speaker placement in these trucks? He is not interested in kicks and we are hoping to make something a little better then just bolting them to the interior door trim panel.

He has both a 2 way and a 3 way component set, but the way the doors are desinged it makes it tough to go into the door at all. I'm thinking that we will have to build the door panels out.

Thanks for any help.
Brad

im a friends s10/s15 ... not sure what it was , wut 4 6.5's in a center console, 2 firing up with a cup holer made of pvc pipe in the middle and 2 firing towards where your legs would be and it sounded readdy decent... nothing too special because the box was just made for a test fit and he didnt have enough money at the time for really good coax's, so he settled for 2 pair of jensens for 20 bucks lol... still sounded nice i would get pictures if this was an idea for you if you have no center seat but he sold the truck already...

Kicks are a slim possibility, he would prefer something in the doors.

Centre console is a definite no. I already tried to talk him into that, but he needs the truck to seat three. A centre console would have given lots of options for the sub and amps, but it is not going to happen.

Done some searching on the net and found most people seem to just stick speakers in the doors and are done with it. Not to much custom work that I could find.

I guess I have to search a little harder maybe.

Thanks for the ideas guys. If anyone has any more, keep them coming.

Later,
Brad

Not sure what hes in to, but he could try a door mounted speaker pod. Of course this depends on how crafty you are with mdf/fiberglass or what ever you feel like using.

Door pods are what I was thinking, but I have yet to see one of these pickups done like that.

Anyone have any pictures of one, to give me some ideas?

Thanks,
Brad
