I just installed a pioneer deck into my 94 mazda protege. I bought a wire harness for it, and everything was great. 3 days later, i turn the car on, put the face on, and suddenly, no noise is coming out. Everything is working except for the sound. Could it be a loose wire or connection? Help!!

check that your speakers are not shorting in the doors.

Its only the rear speakers that don't work. Right now i still have the factory front speakers on. I bought brand new speakers for the rear. The front speakers don't work because they can't handle the wattage of the deck. I have the balance for only the sound to come out of the rear speakers. Im planning to get new speakers for the front. I just don't understand how the system works for a couple of days, then suddenly, no sound.

Jesus christ... I didn't know they made decks that powerful these days...

Your deck is giving those front speakers a whopping 8 watts pal. Too much power is still a long way off for you. Turn all your settings back to "0", you probably just have a mute on somewhere.

The deck is a normal 50 x 4. The factory speakers in the front are shit, and i think they blew out. Either way, i consulted a mobile audio technician at futureshop, and he said chances are that one of the wires is grounding. The deck isn't that powerful, just an ordinary pioneer deck. I was going to get futureshop to install it, but i thought i would go the hard way and learn how to install myself and save 50 bucks Better to learn and screw up than to never learn at all.

50 x 4 means MAX 50w x 4 channels. MAX and REAL POWER are a bit different.

I could say my amp is maximum 5000w, but it could only output 200w at any given time. Decks give out approx. 8 watts per channel.

That really depends on the deck nowadays... ones that are CEA-2k6 certified are easier to tell, because they give you the RMS output, like 17-20w...
