Ok I got my CRX quite awhile ago and I have been working to get it road worthy for about 4 months now. For Christmas my brother got me a Sony deck and four 3-way 180W pioneer speakers. Not amazing by any means but better than nothing since I got the car without any system at all.

Anyways I installed the first two speakers in the doors and then moved on to the ones behind the seats. When I took off the covers I realized that the speaker brackets where missing. So begin cheap and to lazy to go out and get proper brackets I got out my big box of zip ties.

I tied one to each corner of the speaker and then attached it to the screw holes that are used to mount the bracket. So now the speakers are being suspended by 4 zip ties. Will this affect the lows at all? Like would I get more base if they where attached directly to a piece of the car? Or does it even make a difference?

Here is a picture of the install before I put the cover back on:

2 things that kill bass with that setup. First a speaker will return more bass if it is rigidly mounted. If the frame can move it will lower the impact of the cone. Second, a speaker will return more bass if you separate the front soundwave from the back soundwave.

don't be so lazy. You've ruined the sound with a bad install.
Get away from the computer and go cut out a panel to fit the door and the speaker.

OK thanks guys. This was really just temporary anyways. I am waiting for the local junk yard to open up so I can steal the OEM speaker brackets out of one of the CRX's in the lot.

That has to be one of the most ghetto speaker installs I have ever seen. I love to see how many different ways zip ties can be used in a car, thats why I always keep a bag of em in my car.

nope, but if it can't be held, stuck, suspend, strapped, anything with enough zipties, it can't be done.

you would have been better off taking 4-5 layers of cardboard glued together, and cutting out a speaker hole...
