Sorry I'm a newb but..

If you want to run a 4 channel amp, 4 speakers to 2 ohm instead of 4 ohm, if the amp is socalled referred to as "2 ohm stable", how do you do so? And if you're only running it like this either at half volume continuously for a couple of hours would it matter in regards to the amp getting hot?

To get it down too 2 ohms you need to parallel 2 of your four speakers and run them off one channel and same for the other two as most 4 channels are only 2 ohm stable in 4 channel mode not bridged. Which means you have 2 channels un-used. Most 4 channels do the following:

4 x ? in 4 ohms
4 x ? in 2 ohms (This is where the 2 ohm stable comes into play.)
or
2 x ? in 4 ohms

there is no advantage to hooking up 2 speakers to the same channel to get more power.
75 wrms each or 150 if you put both on the same channel. Doh!, they still get 75 w each. Except now one channel of your amp gets hot and you get more distortion at 2 ohm than you did at 4. And you're not stereo, or you've lost the fader.

Buy the right equipment in the first place and you won't be trying to figure out stupid ways to get more power.
