so im having a bit of trouble putting my deck in my car. the previous owner cut the wiring harness, and installed new speaker wire, but left the old wire as well...so i have alot of wires, and dont know what most of them are for. theres all the stock wires, plus 5 yellow ones, which are for the speakers(not sure why there are 5, and only 2 of them seem to have ever been used out of the 5). the car is a 92 eagle talon, and the deck is some cheapo canadian tire nextar 990c or something. i understand all the mathematics of car audio, i just dont have much actual hands on experience and i dont wanna fry anything...if noone can help me thats fine, i guess ill just use a voltmeter to find out which is which, but i will be hard to do so because the wires were cut a bit short and arent too easy to access.

a 9v square battery is a good way to find which wires go to what speaker, just connect the leads to the battery and you will hear what sounds like static coming from the speaker you have wired to the battery.
For the power wire a light tester will do the trick,or a voltreader.

not sure exactly which wire is which, hence the confusion, lol. i can get the colors of them tomorrow.
The yellow wires are all just plain yellow with no markings, but are of a larger gauge than the stock speaker wire, prolly 12 or 10.

hmm, never thought of using a battery to test for speakers, ill try that. so i guess all i really need to find is the power wire and ground wire. i just got a bit overwhelmed as there were alot of wires and decided to just leave it until i could figure it out

You need a volt/ohm meter and some wire markers. get someone to help identify the other ends while you test.

P.S. you'll find the answers in the car, not on the internet.

when someone has added wire you need time in the car not at the internet
