I have the PAC SWI-ALP, and as far as I, and a professional shop, can tell. We have followed the instructions to the letter.

A little backhistory.
The car 06 Ford Fusion SEL
The HU Alpine IVA-W200
PAC PT-R (works great)
PAC SWI-ALP (can set the version, #9, but won't program)

Ok, as I've said, the installation was followed to the letter. White wire to pin 18 (grey/yellow wire). Pin 19 was sent to ground. 100ohm Resister between purple and white wires (that's the inside purple wire).

Now, according to the directions, to set the version, you hold the mode button, while turning on the ignition/power. That part worked flawlessly, and after turning the ignition off and back on, with a brief pause to open and close the car door. (you have to, else it looks at you funny... seriously, you have to) And after turning the ignition back on, it counts on the version number on the LED. (#9, or nine blinks).

Now here's where things go south. At this point, you're supposed to push the button, and the LED should remain on. But it doesn't, nor does holding any of the steering wheel buttons elicite any sort of response from the box. Nor does repeated pushing of the button accomplish anything else.

Have tried replacement of the PAC SWI-ALP device, but it has the same effect.

I'm STUCK! I'm hoping someone else out there had this problem and found a resolution. I'm told that a similar problem exists with 05 and newer Explorers.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same interface and didn't have that problem. Don't remember having to set version. It tells you what version it is. I had other issues, for which getting the proper instructions for my car and a little adice, worked just fine. I don't have a ford, so the pin #'s don't mean a thing to me.
I e-mailled customer service and got a response, next business day, with the answer. My only complaint, is the car doesn't have enogh buttons for all the functions the alpine and interface are capable of.
This is the guy who was helpful. Good luck.

Thanks again, he pointed to the problem as soon as I detailed it out... the resister had to be 100 or less Ohms.. and if its over than it won't work.. went to radio shack, verified that the new resister was 100 or less.. and it works great now.
