I'm trying to install an alpine head unit that used to be in my 91 olds. I now i have a 2004 chrysler 300M and am havin some issues with the install of the head unit..mostly the wiring.

the alpine unit i have requires a constant 12V source and I cannot just hook it up to the harness. Now I know where there are 12V sources..one is in the fuse panel inside the car, however trying to fit the wire in such a tiny little flat space is impossible. The other 12V source in under the hood in the fuse relay panel...but how the hell do i run it through the firewall...I see the grommet area on the firewall, but its impossible to reach because its so far back.

I also can't find a good ground for my unit either, as it needs to be grounded to the chassis. There is only one place i see under the dash just behind the ashtray, but its difficult to secure the damn thing cause i can only fit my hand in the one side. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You may want to check with metraonline.com to see if they make a harness that plugs into your factory harnes to look up an aftermarket HU.

oh..no i already have the harness installed...but the actual wiring from the HU for the constant 12v...needs to hooked directly to a 12V source..it can't be hooked up to the aftermarket harness...I tried and it didn't work.

I would run a 10 ga power wire fused direct from the batt and a 10 ga ground direct to the chassis is jus my 2 cents

If everything on the harness is correct but you just can't get a 12v constant, then i would venture a guess that you simply have a blown out fuse. As for a ground most Dodges use that stupid ground strap atached to the back of the factory deck with a 10mm bolt. You can use that strap or just run a new ground wire,.
