| my kaption amp has the compression fittings for the wires
what is the general practice for preping the wires??
sorry if that doesn't make sence, but every so oftern the wires all break apart (the little strands)
how much exposed wire should i have, then do i solder then end? bend some back then solder? etc etc
thanks |

| Try to fully insert the wire into the amp and have no copper showing I would advise against soldering since that prevents the compression of the cable. You can wrap a little electrical tape around the cable to keep any frayed ends in check if needed.
If I put on a terminal I often solder the fittings after I crimp. |

| Solder is the way to go.

| That connection is meant for bare copper - do not tin the ends.

| be extra carefull when you strip them and don,t over tighten at the amp . If this doesn,t work you could always fold the wire back over the rubber and insert the whole thing . Not CORRECT but works extremely well .

Breaking? You may sever a few strands on the setscrew but you certainly should not be able to cleave through the entire cable or even a significant portion of it. Don't worry about it.
