how to get 14.4 volt

Hi there. Im just wondering how im able to send 14.4 volts to my amp. I thought that coming form the battery your only able to get 12 volts.

With your car off, you should have about 12-12.6 volts at ur disposal.

With the car running, you should have between 13.8-14.8 volts at your disposal.

Alternators charge your battery with more voltage then needed. It helps charge it better and faster.

^^ that is correct. Also, if you upgrade your battery to somethign like an optima yellowtop you will be able to get a lil more voltage out of it with the car turned off.

I doubt very much an Optima 12V batt alone would give you 14.4V..... but if you use an Accuvolt will tho.

I will have to go down and put my multimeter to the battery I have I know for sure my friends yellowtop had a charge of 14.7 with the car off...

well, im a mechanic, and i just cant see a 14.7 volt sitting level with the car off.....i know even right after i turn mine off im only at 13.2 or soemthing, and thats just till the batteries level out...but i geuss ur freind has a pretty amazing battery that more people would like to buy.

I think batteries can be trained to sit pretty high

I dunno, maybe I'm just thinking the car was off? I honestly cant remember atm. I'll test my redtop tomorrow and see what I have comin off of it.
