Hey, I have a friend with a 08 nissan versa, she bought the premium stereo package, teac or tech, something like that.
Its not quite enuf for her and she wants to upgrade to an aftermarket amp/s,speakers etc.
Now,she wants to keep the factory h/u and what i was wondering is,is there anything else i would need for this other than a simple LOC? And would i have to disable the factory amp,or remove etc.?

any help welcomed

I did that when i first got my car. Kept the factory HU, used a 4 ch LOC, replaced all the factory speakers and added subs.
I had a 2 way crossover between the rear speakers and subs, and another 2 way crossover for the front components.
It was loud, but didn't have the SQ or control i wanted, so eventually, I replaced the HU as well, and added 2 disc changers. Still have the LOC i paid 39.95 @ best buy.

Thanx for the info, the reason she wants to keep the factory unit is for usability purposes, cell phone works thru it and what not.
SQ is not gonna be a huge problem,at this point she just wants it loud lol.

I just wanna be sure there isnt any bypass modules etc,or the likes she may need before digging into the install.

Not sure it matters but it may be a 2007,not an 08.

Yes you need a bypass module ($100) and then you need to imitate the chip in the key (immobilizer?) which is another $100.

Took my guys a total of 6 man hours to get it all done ($800 later)

This is for the 2way compustar alarm/starter
