| in my car, 04 300m chrysler, the bass output is greatest with the box facing the rear of the trunk and about 6 inches from the back(cones 6" from the trunk rear). However, it's most inconvenient, and it doesn't sound better...just louder. I therefore chose to face it to the interior and built it to fit under the package shelf. After installing it properly by bolting it to the floor, and sealing the edges as mentioned in a prior post, I noticed it was just as loud if not louder. My suggestion is to try it out in all the positions, and then put it where you'd like it and properly install it...bolt it to the floor, use 1" mdf for the box if possible, and if it's facing the interior...seal it as much as you can. Give the bass only one way to go, and don't lose energy from the box moving and flexing. The advantage is a usable trunk, if that's important to you.
