i have a 2006 pontiac pursuit and was wondering what I need to put an aftermarket head unit in as cheaply as possible. I live near london ontario so if you know anywhere to get good components that would be helpful

Typically, all you should need is a deck, wiring harness, and the dash kit. Other little things are dependant on what you want to do.

"As cheaply as possible" is all relative. The dash kit and wiring harness are fairly "standard prices." About $15 - 20 for the harness and the dash kit about $30, give or take (the one I just bought was $25).

The deck can go anywhere from $100 (for a cheapie Sony or whatnot) to 4 or $500. Depends on the features you want, etc, etc.

Figure out your budget beforehand and then start to look. Thats your best bet.

you might also have to buy a factory relocation harness for your car since part of the computer may be in your gm radio

Use the proper interface

and, if it has onstar, you'll need a different version.

Just did a 2005 4 door pursuit install, this is what I used and had no problems. Bought all parts from crutchfield canada online, Gm antenna adapter Product Code: 12040GM10, Dash kit, Product Code: 142GM1587B and wire harness, Product Code: 120702103. The car did not have on star or high end sound system also it did not not have the lcd info center under the radio in the middle console, if your car has any of this than you'll probably need different parts. If you buy your radio from crutchfield all this stuff is included free, if not I still find it pretty cheap because best buy and future shop were going to charge me around $300 to install a $150 deck, claiming I had to relocate originale radio. I didn't so far no problems and I still have all my chimes.
