Hey everyone!

I recently bought and installed 6.5" alpine type-R speakers in the back of my 1998 toyota paseo. I have 5.25" type-s in my front doors and my head unit is the alpine cde-9843. I thought that installing 6.5" speakers would really improve the sound quality and the bass compared to the factory speakers but it surprisingly, it did not.

There is the same amount of distortion as there was when the factory speakers where installed. I checked and re-checked every connection and wire but the sound is still the same. Is my head unit to weak to drive those speakers?

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

you need an amplifier, decks are very limited in their clean power output and distort quickly when the volume control is increased. Get at least a 40x4 rms amplifier for your speakers and you'll get significantly better sound. Consider getting a small subwoofer system for your car as well, that will allow you to get all the low bass from the sub and only midrange and above from the components.
