But, you are wrong about twisting not making a difference. As said before, twisting reduces magnetic coupling, which is why we have noise in the first place. Shielding does not reduce magnetic coupling. I've proven this many times myself in customers vehicles.
If you're going to spend the money on rca's, buy twisted (They'll cost way more that shieled rca's even though they are cheaper to make, and easy to make yourself).
And wire is wire, but for signal flow, its all in how it's constructed.
