I've just purchased a new car stereo and installed it my self. Maybe not the best idea but I wanted some experance in the field. So anyways, I installed it and tried it out but 3 seconds after it was turned on I blew a fuze. Well I went back to the store and they talked to me in some sort of messed up car audio language and I didn't understand a thing about it. But I caught something about a floating ground. Well I know when I installed it I had to connect all of the ground wires for the deck into one ground in the car inputs. The nicer and not so technically knowledgeable one said it is the problem. I wanted to get some opinions on what I can do if anything to fix this on my own. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

you need to have a seperate gnd for each of your speakers, they can't be "commoned" together.

What kind of car do you have, an 80's or earlier Ford? Anyways, you must either rewire the speakers so there is a positive and negative going from the CD player to each speaker (for a total of 8 speaker wires) or you could buy a floating ground adapter from a shop and not rewire the speakers.
