Heres my predicament... As u may have seen on an earlier post, i was going to attempt a kickpod install in my YJ. However, after trying to fit the speakers on the drivers side anywhere, i realised i dont have a cutting torch/welder to relocate my ebrake... U may have then seen my ad to sell the speakers. Since no one wants them, i think i will try to throw them in again, somehow. Heres what Ima thinkin... I will fabricate some pods that are mounted where the old 3.5s?? used to be on the rollbar, but facing the opposite rear passengers.... on the back of the pods, i will run a long port (about 2 feet maybe?) along the rollbar, forward to where the bar meets the window frame, where I will then throw a bent fitting that will aim the port at the opposite driver/passenger seat.

My question is not if i can do this, i know i can..... but how do you think it will sound? what the hell do mids sound like ported?! And, would it be better to have the front of the mid blocked off? in a completely sealed chamber?

I still think the easiest way to get good sound in a Yj is to do up some door panels with 6.5's in them. If you want to be able to take the doors off, then use some connectors that you can unplug at the door. Good luck!

Thing is, if he wants to listen to music AND have the doors off he's screwed. Unless he has another speaker set....

Im trying to have music come from the front of the vehicle, and not use my crappy stock 4x6's... I have this component set, thats just sittin there..... doin nothin.... and i cant build kicks. Panels would be nice, but i take the doors off in summer... Tho, im thinkin of gettin half doors, but even then, i might be able to do it i guess if i make 4 door panels, and swap the speakers season to season.

Basically, by porting the mids, i want to have the sound coming from the ports and into the front of the vehicle (probably would sound like ass, but atleas i would have left and right channels.) what do you think paul?

Porting the mids might make more of a nasal mid sound, you probably don't want that.

Putting the components in place of the stock locations should work with a bit of modifying(I'm assuming this is a Cav or Sunfire, I helped my buddy with one), and it should work fine, just give them a good amount of power.

This certainly isnt a Cav or sunfire.... its a Jeep YJ.... First of all.... theres NOOOO WAY to throw these in the stock speaker spots...Second, i dont think id want to spend the time, its a REAL big job (rollbar needs to be unbolted, along with the winshield frame). Im thinkin that the whole port thing wont go over too well, but, u never know...

Thanks for the opinion, i was thinkin pretty much the same thing... Anyone else?

Build some boxes that fit in front of the seats and fire them up towards the dash. Sure you wont have the greatest soundstage ever but sometimes you get lucky. There were quite a few comp cars done by PJ's Autosound back in the day done this way. At least you will get some sound out of them.

IB them up your pillars, under the dash or out of the car
