ok, I'm opening up the floor for suggetsions on how to go about rebuilding and/or modifying the dash of my 93 cavalier.

I want to keep the stock guage cluster and HVAC controls.

I will be adding a Behringer GEQ3102 EQ, an ISO mount HU to the dash, and a 12" subwoofer, mounted IB under the dash. tweeters may go in the dash, or in the A pillars, not sure yet.

My current thought process is to cut and form a piece of 1/2" MDF to constitute the majority of the dash, to give me a uniform surface to work from, then take the stock guage cluster cover/shroud/shade-dealie, split it in half, and extend it to the width of the dash with some creative fiberglass/foam work, and mount the electronics in there, so they're shaded and somewhat hidden.

so have at it with suggestions.

The way I would do it is to build all the parts (guage cluster, vents, head unit opening, eq opening, speaker mounts etc.) out of MDF first. Then build a skeleton that attaches to the vehicle. Then place the parts you built to house the various components in the best positions. Use mdf strips or whatever to hold them in place. Then stretch fleece over the whole thing making sure you can get to the attachment points to remove the dash to reinforce it from the back.

Make sure that if you plan to compete in SQ to keep it as symetrical as possible and with as little overhang as possible.

have you considered moving the guages to the center and puting you midbass/midrange and tweeter on either side of the dash, if you are going to build a whole new dash, very cool by the way, i think this configuration could give you some serious benefits over kick panel, or door mounting, i belive tim turnbull, bc's alpine rep, has built a dash in the same vehicle, he might be very helpful
