i built my own box, holds 2 10's single voice coil mtx 6000 subs, i have a sony 740watt amp, when i turn the volume up loud the amp shuts down.

i wired the amps so that a + and - go to a connection on the box then once in teh box i split the wire into 2 so that there are 2 + and 2 - and ran that to each sub... why is it doing this?

thanks matt

Sounds like you either have your subs wired too low for your amp, or you don't have a good power/ground connection.

Basically just recheck the wiring in general.

yeah you have your subs wired in parralell giving your amp a 2 ohm mono load, if you have the sony 2 channel amp wored to mono it can't run that it's only rated for 4 ohms mono

run 1 speaker per channel or wire em to 8 ohms mono

see the JL audio link terri supplied

either wire one sub per channel, or if its a monoblock amp, then go from the amp + to sub1 + amp - to sub1 - then wire from sub1 + to sub2 -, and sub1 - to sub2 + for an 8 ohm mono load,

simple way to do it there should be 2 sets of speaker outputs

wire one sub per output

or for series

hook the speaker wire + to one subs + and the speaker wire - to the other subs -

then join the 2 reaming speaker terminals on the subs (1+&1-) together
