| I'm thinking of getting 6.5" components for my 1999 Civic EX sedan, but I'm concerned that I may have problem mounting them. I know the factory locations are 6.5", but I've heard that speakers with large motors can cause problems when installing. Has anyone else put 6.5" mids into their '99 or '00 Civic? |

| A spacer is a good idea, as long as there is still clearance for the factory grill...hmm... |

| Not sure if this is true for your model, but the older Civics had the plastic basket behind them. You can always cut those out for some more depth, using a die grinder.

| I believe 96-00 are the same in respect to speaker mounts...they are similar to 92 up civics but the basket is integrated to the door panel...ya you have to cut the back out but there are still limitations to what 6.5" you can fit.(custom fabrication = put what ever you want there ) |

| Yep, 97 Civic here, have to cut out the plastic behind the speaker and use a 1/3-1/2" spacer (depending on the speaker) to make sure the motor doesnt hit the window.
Btw im using CDT EF61CFi components [ December 15, 2004, 01:31 PM: Message edited by: mik ] |

| here take my advice i have a 99 Honda Civiv LX 4dr i bought my components (Infinty Perfects 6.1) these mofos have the biggest god damn magnet i have seen but they are very amazing. Anyways yes you have to cut the plastic but i also had to cut about a 1/4 inchh BORDEr of MEtal door frame to get these suckers to fit. These things cost me a lot to install about 200 including the amp install. took the guy like 5 hours. Just make sure ur magnet is not so big. |

| Actually, I believe the installer had to cut some metal to install my old Focals when I first got the car, so maybe when I upgrade I won't need to do any cutting myself.
But thanks for the replys. It's good to know what you're getting into before spending a bunch of money... |

| A small spacer to the bottom of the window guide(10mm bolt) should also help give you depth, tho it will make opening/closing the window a little more difficult.
