I have an Alpine 9833 deck and a 93 camry.

I need a wiring harness to go from my deck to the camry's plugs (sorry I don't know the technical name for it.) I have a wiring harness that goes from the deck to bare wires, but I would like to avoid all the soldering.

I have checked eBay, and I bought the only alpine to toyota harness I could find only to have the seller e-mail me to tell me he had none in stock [img]graemlins/banghead.gif[/img]

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any local car audio dealer should have it for about $15, tell them your year, make, and model to make sure they have the right one. For that deck it is a good idea to run 10awg power wire (fused) directly off of the battery for it, also, to get the most out of the deck, and to make it run most efficiently. Good luck.

Won't I need to solder the matching wires on my wiring harness to this one? Or does it come pre-soldered to an alpine plug?

Is it easy to run a 10awg (no idea what that means) power wire directly off of the battery? Are there any websites that could walk me through this?

If you buy the plug that was linked to above, you match up colour to colour, and either solder them, or use butt connectors.



As far as the 10awg, that is 10 gauge wire, your local audio shop should have some. The Ebay link is one that is already matched up to an Alpine plug, saves you a bit of time. I would still run the full time power lead to the battery though, not through the Toyota factory harness.

Metra used to offer harnesses that were car specific on one end and radio specific on the other: ie Toyota to Alpine. The problem with this setup is the sheer number of harnesses a shop would have to stock if they have, say, 3 headunit lines, and support even just 6 car makers. Too much stock.

Can't find them on Metra's site anymore (not surprised) but Scosche still has a similar system: http://www.scosche.com/scosche.aspx?...SMTA02ALP1603B

SO - fina a scosche dealer and they will most likely have to special order it. Chances are it costs as much as just buying a regular harness and flipping an installer $10 to join them for you

Once you buy enough wire, probably 10-15 feet, you have to snake it through the engine bay away from moving and hot parts. Use black flex loom to cover it, an use wire ties to keep it in place. Then you will have to look on the firewall for a rubber plug that you can run the wire through. Make sure to buy an inline fuse holder to install within 18" of the battery, and leave the fuse out until the last minute, so that you are not running the wire live.
