Hey gents,

Quick question: what is the 'module/box with wires running into/out of it' under the passenger seat (floor) of a 1995 Buick Regal??! Is it a factory amp? I want to know, so I can hopefully remove it and make room for a nine.2. All help or leads are greatly appreciated.
PS- I couldn't find anything in the Haynes manual.

Cheers.

Yes it should be a factory amp. GM tried that in the mid 90's. Is it a plain silver metal box? If so, it should be. Some high end factory system...lol.

Thanks, no kidding! For double DIN casette unit, you'd think an amp would improve something...ha. I'll pull it out. Cheers.

Could you take a picture of it? I am not sure it's an amp, most GM amps were in the trunk.

Yeah, I'm not so sure now...I talked to my mechanic today and I mentioned it. He's sure it's a computer of some sort ('body'?). I'll try to get a pic, but I'll have to get the seat out...give me a day or two. Cheers.

Now I believe it's a module for the airbag system. It's a keeper. Good thing I didn't find anything out the hard way.

No, thats the actual "radio" its the brains of the real stereo/radio. Thats where everything plugs in and works. Not an amp, just a stupid way GM decided to make things work

OK. Thanks. I'm getting a lot of mixed responses, so I'll just proceed with caution. Cheers.

Are you 100% sure, the three piece radio always has the tuner box in the passenger kick in the Regals I have worked on (about 15). How much experience do you have with this particular car?

The three piece setup: is that the 'upgraded' GM stereo? I don't see anything in the trunk, so..? I'll go over the Haynes again....
