| Ok, I give up. To make a long story short, I can't figure out why my system sounds like sh*t.
I have 2 twelves in the trunk and front speakers only (no speakers in the back). When I play front speakers only (no back) they sound great! I can push the volume up to 30 (max)and they scream nicely - NO PROBLEM. I can switch all volume to the back - box sounds great on its own - NO PROBLEM.
Now, when I switch to the middle (front speakers and the box) I can't play pass volume at 18-20. Front speakers get distorted and sound really crappy.
WTF am I doing wrong? And, how do I fix this. Yes, I did all the wiring on my own. |

| That's quite odd.
Maybe it's a power issue? If your headunit isn't getting enough power, maybe it's clipping when the subs are loaded up too much. You couldn't be able to heard the clipping with the subs on by themselves but the headunit might be doing it anyways.
Maybe some information on what type of components you have (not that it will make a large difference) but it sounds like a headunit not getting enough power to me. Or, differing voltage potentials between the headunit and sub amp (same thing, written different way) |

| I don't think adjusting levels will do anything.
I had this system working in a different car with no problems.
Think about it, it should pound regardless of how much volume goes to front or rear. |

| Sounds possibly like a serious voltage drop problem, perhaps caused by the amps not receiving the current they need or the voltage. How are the amps wired up? What size are they? Where are they grounded to? Does this happen with the engine on or off? Perhaps checking voltage at the amps with the fader in the 3 different positions and seeing what readings you get might help to find out where to start.

| Voltage? The box POUNDS no problem.
I'm using 0 gauge wires, ground to battery as well. Hmmm, ... |

| take a multi tester and put it across the (+) and (-) terminal's and for the heck of it the speaker terminals to at different fade settings and see if something's amiss.
Couldn't hurt.

| alsmost sounds like you may have mixed up some speaker outputs from the deck...(used fronts and rears together somehow) did you chop the factory plug or use and aftermarket harness adapter???
