Ok guys whats the deal I was reading a post on sound deadning the front doors in a SUV and it was generally stated dont do it I thought that sealing the doors with deadner was kind of law (not optional/ must do) for a good install.
Was this just for SPL or? Every one seamed to say it was a nessasary thing on my truck so are SUVs different?

Dang just when you start to think you understand...............................

I put deadener on the inside of the outer skin and sealed up the inside of the door with deadener as best I could on my Blazer. It made a huge improvement.

I can't see why anyone would say not to do this just because it is an SUV.

Later,
Brad

It would much depend on your application, sq or spl. For sq, you would want to deaden the doors, but in spl, there are varying opinions as to wether it should be done or not.

SPL is deffinetly different, there is no set way, or rules. Only thing that matters, and what tells you if anything works or not, is dB gains or losses.

As for SQ I think you want to eliminate all external noises, and contain the music. This would be best accomplished by deadening everything.

Humm.... OK
Perhaps all the vibrations and tin rattles add in the SPL world, maybe?
